Regan King returns for the Scarlets

The Leinster squad to face the Scarlets in Saturday’s Magners League clash at the RDS (KO: 6.30pm) has been named.

Leinster welcome back Kevin McLaughlin, Sean O’Brien, Eoin Reddan and Jonathan Sexton from Ireland duty for Leinster’s fourth fixture against the Scarlets this season.

With the likes of Girvan Dempsey, Shane Horgan and Shane Jennings in tow, supplemented by the likes of Shaun Berne, Isa Nacewa, Stan Wright and CJ van der Linde, Leinster can call on a panel of experienced and young talent.

Full-back Andrew Conway is named in the extended panel having impressed for the Ireland Under-20′s in recent weeks. Meanwhile, David Kearney, Eoin O’Malley and Eoin Sheriff are included in the panel after impressing in last weekend’s 22-10 British & Irish Cup victory over the Exeter Chiefs.

The team is expected to be announced on Friday lunchtime.

Over 13,000 tickets have now been sold for Saturday’s Magners League fixture

Ireland announce team

Ireland Coach Declan Kidney has named the team to play France in the second game of the RBS 6 Nations Championship in Paris on Saturday. Keith Earls has been selected on the left wing in place of Andrew Trimble.  Donncha O’Callaghan has not recovered from the injury that ruled him out of the opening game. Leo Cullen has been named to start in the second row.

A vacancy has been left blindside flanker pending confirmation of the fitness of Stephen Ferris. Both players took part in training with the Ireland team today but a final decision will be made on Thursday. The seven replacements will also be finalised on Thursday from the possible nine players named today.

Ireland make eight changes for Fiji game

There are eight changes to the Ireland team that drew 20-20 with Australia to the side that will take on Fiji this weekend in the second game of the 2009 Guinness Series.

The game, which will be the first ever international to take place in the Royal Dublin Society grounds, sees five changes to the backline and three in the pack.

Keith Earls, who replaced the injured Luke Fitzgerald against Australia, retains his place on the left wing with Shane Horgan coming in on the right wing for Tommy Bowe.

Ireland A to play Tonga

The Ireland ‘A’ Team to play Tonga in Ravenhill on Friday night has been announced.

The team will be captained by Shane Horgan and also includes some experienced internationals in Peter Stringer and Neil Best.

Leinster announce HETAC graduates

Leinster Rugby have announced this year’s graduates from the HETAC (Higher Education and Training Awards Council) programme for 2009.

Conor McInerney and James Power picked up their diplomas at a function in the RDS on Wednesday afternoon and the duo follow in the footsteps of the likes of Fionn Carr, Matthew D’Arcy, Ross McCarron, Kevin McLaughlin, Sean O’Brien, Jonathan Sexton, Devin Toner and Cillian Willis who each graduated last year.

Overseen by Academy Manager Colin McEntee in conjunction with Caroline Keane (Academy Administrator) and Daniel Tobin (Academy Fitness Coach), the programme encompasses a three year supplementary course in modules such as Rugby technical, Tactical, Generic, Fitness, Lifestyle and Psychological skills.
