Tigers team vs. Quins

Geoff Parling is included in the Leicester Tigers squad for the first time this season ahead of Friday’s home game against Harlequins (7.45pm).

Second-rower Parling ended last season with a Premiership winner’s medal in his first term with the club, but he suffered a neck injury on tour with England in the summer.

He is named among the Tigers replacements for Friday’s Aviva Premiership Rugby clash with Harlequins, winners at Welford Road two weeks ago in the LV= Cup.

Geordan Murphy, Anthony Allen and George Chuter have returned from international training this week to take a place in the starting line-up and Manu Tuilagi makes his first start in the Aviva Premiership Rugby, taking the place of brother Alesana, who is away with Samoa.

Props Fraser Balmain and Ryan Bower are among the replacements after playing in the cup match against the Ospreys last Friday, but England international centre Dan Hipkiss is ruled out with a hamstring injury.

“It’s good news for everyone to have Geoff Parling back in the squad,” said Tigers director of rugby Richard Cockerill.

“He had a strong season with us last season and he has come through his rehab from injury pretty well.

“This is a big period of the season for us with Quins on Friday followed by another home game against Newcastle next Saturday. We need to pick up points to keep up with the top four in the table and push on from there.”

Tickets for Friday’s game are available now from the Tigers ticket office. Phone the hotline on 0844 856 1880, call in at the ticket office at Welford Road (open 8.30am-5pm Thursday and from 8.3am Friday) or book online.

Quins team vs. Tigers

A fortnight after Quins’ LV= Cup win over the Tigers, the London side are back at Welford Road and are hoping for similar fortunes, this time in Aviva Premiership Rugby.

Nick Evans returns to the side in place of Rory Clegg, and restores his 9-10 partnership with Karl Dickson. Jordan Turner-Hall and Ollie Smith, facing his former club, combine in the centre with Tom Williams and George Lowe on the wings. Mike Brown, after missing out on the Newcastle game, is back at full back.

Ceri Jones, Joe Gray and James Johnston make up the front row and Tomas Vallejos and George Robson combine once more in the second row.

Captain Chris Robshaw, Will Skinner and Tom Guest make up a strong back row.

Joe Marler and Rory Clegg miss out through injury; Marler picked up a knock in the LV= Cup game against Newcastle but will be back in contention next weekend. Clegg, who was stretchered off as a precaution against Newcastle, does not have any serious injury and should be available for selection in the next couple of weeks.

Gonzalo Camacho remains with Argentina.
