SCOTTISH RUGBY NEWS: Live TV broadcast on BBC Alba–Glasgow vs Scarlets
BBC ALBA’s coverage of RaboDirect PRO12 rugby continues this weekend with live coverage of Glasgow Warriors first match at Scotstoun Stadium as they face Welsh side Scarlets.
Coverage of the match will start this Friday at 7.30pm, with the match itself will beginning at 7.35pm. Commentary will be provided by Hugh Dan MacLennan and presenter Calum Macaulay will be joined for analysis of the match by Warriors and Scotland full-back Stuart Hogg.
Friday’s match will mark Warriors’ debut at their new home at Scotstoun Stadium – their third base after previous spells playing at Firhill Stadium and at Hughenden.
The match against Scarlets will also see new head coach Gregor Townsend take charge of his first home match and he will be hoping his side can recover from last weekend’s 18-10 loss away to Ulster at Ravenhill.
Warriors’ recent record against Welsh teams suggests they can bounce back from this result, with only one loss in their last nine matches against sides from the region. This run includes their last fixture against Scarlets in February, a match that Glasgow won 19-9 thanks to a Jon Welsh try plus a conversion and four penalties from Ruaridh Jackson.
As well as all the live action, there will be an extended feature at half-time with Warriors CEO Nathan Bombrys as he gives a behind the scenes look at their move to Scotstoun.
BBC ALBA has signed an exclusive deal to show live RaboDirect PRO12 rugby in Scotland until the 2013/14 season. The channel is committed to showing at least eight Edinburgh or Glasgow home matches per season, and has teamed up with Irish, Welsh and Italian broadcasters to also provide live coverage of selected away matches for both sides.
