Moseley’s "bounce back ability" to be tested on Saturday

After a disappointing start to this year’s campaign, with a heavy defeat at Bedford, Moseley take on Nottingham in another Midlands’ clash this Saturday. Coaches Kevin Maggs and David Hilton have reacted to last week’s loss by making four changes to the starting line-up. In the backs the experienced Brad Hunt returns, after suspension, to the centre, with Anthony Carter moving to full-back. At scrum-half Sam Brown makes way for Alex Day. The sole change in the pack sees lock Mike Powell make his Moseley league debut as Captain after being unavailable last week.

Moseley will be aiming to bounce back from a disappointing opening RFU Championship match against Bedford when Nottingham will visit Billesley Common on Saturday.

Last season Nottingham finished a very creditable 5th in the regular season Championship just one bonus point victory behind eventual champions London Welsh and started this season with an impressive victory last weekend over Leeds.

This week the Moseley players will be focussing on showing their true potential. The pack will be aiming to produce more decent ball than at Bedford and set loose a back line hungry for tries.

The team should be bolstered by the return of two key players in Captain Mike Powell and Brad Hunt. Powell will be looking to use his considerable experience to drive the Moseley forward onwards while Hunt will add a further cutting edge to the backline.

Saturday is shaping up to be an entertaining encounter.

Despite the Bedford reverse Maggs remains upbeat. “We know that we let ourselves and our supporters down last week,” he said. “I will be looking for a reaction from the players, and there is no better occasion to make one than against such a tough opposition as Nottingham”.
