I was a big Sennheiser fan, but came across some Shure SE115s discounted from a £100 down to £40 quid in HMVs, and gave them a try. Excellent, so I bought a pair of SE220s which are worth the hike in cash. They are incredibly comfortable for earbuds, the sound quality is excellent and the noise isolation is phenomenal, both for you and the person sat next to you.

In fact the only problem with them is they don't have an inline volume control. On a long-haul flight back from the USA the biggest issue was they were too loud at even the lowest volume setting for the in-flight movie. That's what you get if you fly BA I suppose.

No, I don't I'm afraid, I use DT100s, the ones you see everybody on telly using, they are flat and they are robust, I've had the closed back 770 pros in the past and they've been top notch too, my needs might be different from yours though, I don't want any notches or spikes, I need as flat a frequency response as possible, I need them to be sensitive, and I need to be able to get spare parts, Bayer tick all these boxes.

Are you going to get a pair? If so, let me know what they're like. My skullcandys have broken after a year of occasional use - they are a triumph of style over content, as someone else said and I will not buy another pair.

Brilliant, £49.95 can't believe just how good they are. 5 stars What HiFi 2011 awards, better than many costing twice three times as much.

After screwing around for ages and buying several pairs of headphones and sending them all back, a mate had a pair of these on my ski trip last week and they were brilliant, so bought a pair.

I bought the noise cancelling version of those for a 11 hour flight a few years back, be careful with them, they pack down nice and small, but the way they swivel is a weakness, one of the speakers has dropped out of the headband on mine, and there's no fixing it.

Time to resurrect this thread as this offer is on Play today:

http://www.play.com/Electronics/Elec...rlrefer=search

Anyone know if they are any good? I have an htc phone, not iphone, but wouldn't use the mic anyway so that's not an issue.
