I bought a pair of Bose on the advice of a mate. Thought they were good although I've since lost 3 of the cover thingmaboabs. I need to look into getting replacements.

Akin to Apple. Best headphones I've ever owned, Beats Audio. Insanely good.

Apple does what it should do, it's a victory for something that works out of the box, and you have to pay for that, PCs and Macs are merging, because they both now run the same CPUs, but if you had the first idea about an OS, you wouldn't use windows, it does millions of things the likes of you should never have access to.

In that lower (for them) price range and for over ear they are just fine. To get a lot better you end up tipping over into the 100s of quids.

Apple have gone way overboard with their marketing though. Had the misfortune of being dragged into Westfield Apple the other week, and looking around, it's surreal.

Everything's futuristic and glowing and ethereal, the geeks that work their are called Wizards or Geniuses or some bollocks, and they're all trying SO hard to be relaxed and cool (most of them worse pork pie hats) it was painful.

In fact they probably have daily meetings in which they're instructed to be laid-back - or face the sack.

I've been on macs since the days when they were on the verge of taking over, then when they were completely marginalised, I do find it funny when people who run windows have a bitch about Apple marketing. Matey, you use the computer you do because of the success of Microsoft's marketing, because, believe me historically it's the massively weaker system, you are not a programmer and you are not an engineer, you should never have been on a PC.

If you have money to splurge, and I mean splurge, then Beats by Dre do some good quality earphones. I use a pair of Dre Studio HD Beats at the moment and they are awesome, I tested both the Studio HD and the Bose QuietComfort 15 before opting for the Monster branded ones.

For the £65 you are looking to invest, you are looking at a single headphone driver and you will get better sound clarity from a pair of Shure's than any other headphone.

Before the beats, I had a pair of Shure SE210's, that you can pick up for about £50 now, and they are absolutely sublime, with only a slight lack of bass kick letting them down (that will always happen with single drivers, bass will either suffer slightly or dominate too much).

Etymotics do a few nice pairs as well, but I've never been able to get on with them.

For the money you are looking to spend, I'd look at Shure. They perform like £200 headphones for a third of the price. You should be able to pick up a pair on Amazon or another retailer.

(This all, of course, depends on your taste in music).

I wasn't talking about the PC, as I know jack all about them, I was referring to Apples tablets, phones and mp3s, which I know a little bit about.

There is a TV ad here bearing the slogan "If you don't have an iPhone.....you don't have an iPhone". Have you got it as well? It epitomises everything I hate about Apple.

I like my iPod and the best computer I have ever owned is a Mac, but the way Apple markets itself these days is even more irritating than it's fanboys.
