Default Will the Scarlets be playing Heineken Cup rugby next season?

Will they manage to avoid being the bottom placed Welsh region?

Agreed. This match will go a long way to deciding whether its the mutants or the blues that miss out next year.

Out of the 4 Welsh teams the Scarlets seem to be in worse shape, Cardiff can start churning out some good results in the ML now that their HC odyssey appears to be prematurely at an end.
The Scarlets have got some good players missing , their strength is so threadbare they can't do without them. They will also be lacking confidence .
For a team like that a stint in the 2nd tier European competition will do them no harm, the HC is a step too far for them and the Dragons ATM.

The Blues have enough of a squad to pick up wins later in the season, the Scarlets seem one or two injuries away from catastrophe. I would back the Blues to pull away from them... although I would agree that today's match could have some bearing on when that happens.

I was trying to be a smartass (and failing miserably). I don't expect the bloos to be anywhere near the bottom welsh team. It will be the Drags or the Scartleads. Almost certainly the drags when it really comes to push and shove.

Don't the Dragons traditionally collapse after Christmas?

Yes but they have a lot of points in the bag and they look much better this season. Scarlets main problem is the pack and there aren't going to be many improvements there apart from when Mathew Rees and Dafydd joens come back.
