I've played football and watched football for as long as i can remember, i have never ever heard that term used even once. No one uses it as it's a load of rubbish. You won't find one manager or player ever refer to it as a position on the pitch.

Edit - It was used in a headline once on zonalmarking.net in 2011 ! Ha ha

Isn't false nine a term coined by Jonathan Wilson in Inverting the Pyramid? It's a term that's becoming a lot more prevalent these days.
