I'm not saying it should try to be number one, but just saying that if it wants to be that's what it needs to do.

Coming from the country that forced world rugby to turn professional.

Its been a long time coming but England finally start to deliver the goods!

Can someone please remind me what we have won recently?? Is '66 still regarded as recent and are our current fifa rankings based on that? Are we getting special ranking points for the rugby team winning in '03 and not winning in '07? Plucky loser points for 2012 6Ns? Perhaps some bonus points for most of our lads knowing and/or humming the words to GSTQ?

In reality, we're barely good enough to be in the top 10. It's made even more laughable when Brazil are not even in the top 10.

In all fairness, we didn't lose a match... Ranking systems are never perfect but if you don't lose then you can't expect to drop ranking points.

England always do enough to have a decent ranking and they are probably a top 8 team - QF at every major tournament recently (except McLaren's disaster). Just not good enough, though.

This just proves that whereas lots of nations are inconsistent (ranging from brilliant to woeful), we're consistently mediocre. It makes you proud.
