Feeling a tad more optimistic for Edinburgh's season after the latest signing, overall the players coming in are looking better quality than those who have departed/been shipped on - most of whom hardly featured at all last term.

Players In

Nikki Walker from Worcester Warriors - Could be a decent club player if he can stay fit
Jack Cuthbert from Bath Rugby - Squad signing, could potentially move to centre?
Aleki Lutui from Worcester Warriors - Decent cover but makes less sense now after McInally's hooker switch
Alasdair Dickinson from Sale Sharks - Played some decent rugby for Scotland this summer
Grayson Hart from NSW Waratahs - Offers something different to the other SHs available
Oliver Atkins from NSW Waratahs - Fairly big unit and will hopefully drive competition at lock which was dire last season
Wicus Blaauw from Biarritz - Superior to Yapp, hopefully more aggressive too
Sean Kennedy from Glasgow Warriors - Bags of potential here, would have served either pro team well, Edinburgh are lucky to have him

Izak van der Westhuizen and WP Nel also in their first proper full pre-season with the club after a sufficient summer break,

Players Out

Richie Rees to Newport Gwent Dragons - Started well but doesn't suit Edinburgh's style
Netani Talei to Newport Gwent Dragons - Had his worst season as an Edinburgh player
Sep Visser released - didnt feature much and isnt SQ (better options available eg Farndale)
Mike Penn to Moseley - Never featured, useless signing
Andy Titterrell to London Welsh - Played pretty well but is easily replaceable
Allan Jacobsen retired - Looked tired and uninterested last season
James King retired - good player but hardly featured/plagued by injuries
Steven Turnbull retired - didnt feature last season
John Yapp to London Irish - Not aggressive enough last season despite being fairly solid

You seem to be very opinionated on the Edinburgh players.
How about giving us your unbiased opinions of the rest of the Edinburgh players on last seasons performances ??

Players In

Nikki Walker from Worcester Warriors - Could be a decent club player if he can stay fit Given Lee Jones apparently losing all form last season, and McVisser being with Scotland, Walker for all his faults will be a useful player to have around if cheap enough. I was more annoyed that he was a "big signing".
Jack Cuthbert from Bath Rugby - Squad signing, could potentially move to centre? God knows. He was an uninspiring signing
Aleki Lutui from Worcester Warriors - Decent cover but makes less sense now after McInally's hooker switch McInallys switch isn't going to be a sudden thing. It will take time and against bigger packs it makes sense to bring in experience. It is perhaps now clearer why they were happy enough to bring in someone of Lutuis age.
Alasdair Dickinson from Sale Sharks - Played some decent rugby for Scotland this summer New scrum laws could help him if he gets his technique right and we get a quick strike. Useful around the park.
Grayson Hart from NSW Waratahs - Offers something different to the other SHs available No idea what he offers, not seen him play.
Oliver Atkins from NSW Waratahs - Fairly big unit and will hopefully drive competition at lock which was dire last season 2nd row is weak for Edinburgh but at 6ft6 and 18 stone he isn't that big.
Wicus Blaauw from Biarritz - Superior to Yapp, hopefully more aggressive too Not seen him play but would be shocked if he is any worse than Yapp.
Sean Kennedy from Glasgow Warriors - Bags of potential here, would have served either pro team well, Edinburgh are lucky to have him I hope he gets a lot of gametime this year.

Izak van der Westhuizen and WP Nel also in their first proper full pre-season with the club after a sufficient summer break, This is a key point IMO. Nel had played a lot of Rugby before he got to Edinburgh last year.

Players Out

Richie Rees to Newport Gwent Dragons - Started well but doesn't suit Edinburgh's style In a straight swap with Kennedy I am happy to go with a a young Scot.
Netani Talei to Newport Gwent Dragons - Had his worst season as an Edinburgh player Noticeable dwnturn in form last year
Sep Visser released - didnt feature much and isnt SQ (better options available eg Farndale) Agreed
Mike Penn to Moseley - Never featured, useless signing Agreed
Andy Titterrell to London Welsh - Played pretty well but is easily replaceable Agreed
Allan Jacobsen retired - Looked tired and uninterested last season
James King retired - good player but hardly featured/plagued by injuries A bit of a shame
Steven Turnbull retired - didnt feature last season A bit of a shame
John Yapp to London Irish - Not aggressive enough last season despite being fairly solid Didn't really work out as it could.
Signings definitely strengthen the squad IMO. Not enough to challenge for playoffs etc but it is a start that will hopefully be built on.

no. Not even Greg is that obsessive, and he's not Welsh.

Can't see anyone you'll miss there. Definite strengthening. It's the coaching that will hopefully see you through.

Northampton 24 Edinburgh 6

From following the twitter feed sounds like Denton had a good game.

Matt Scott took a knock on 13 minutes and left the field, hope it's nothing serious
