Hey WT, got a strange problem with my foot. It's painful to stand on first thing in the morning and when I have been sitting still for a longish period. The pain is in the ball of my foot (not the hell like in PF), and is difficult to localise but seems to be around the 3rd or 4th metatarsal. Walking seems to help it go away, and running doesn't seem to aggravate it.

Any ideas?

Righto, I've got what I think is a recurrence of an old rotator cuff injury. No strength whatever in my left arm, v limited movement, sharp pains and grinding feeling inside the joint. Comes and goes a bit but when it's bad it hurts like hell; I couldn't even steer the car properly this morning.
Any ideas as to treatment or indeed is there any? It's so long since I did it I can't remember the treatment last time out but unfortunately I don't have access to the top class bank of physios and the rest I had then (your good self excepted of course).
Ta v much.

Sounds similar to rotator cuff, so if you have that history, then that's the diagnosis until proven otherwise.

Yes, it can be treated, and yes, it will hurt. You also really need to find a way to rest it, but may have to settle for comparative rest, rather than honest-to-goodness rest.

Get started on the standard exercises -
Stretch the arm across the torso; over the head, and around the back
Isometric exercises against a door frame
Finger walking exercises up the wall
Tractioned circumduction bent forwards

Book an appointment to see a physio/osteo/chiro to get some active treatment; a really good massage therapist would be able to as well

If those don't ring enough bells for you to remember, let me know, and I'll try to describe them in more detail

Anti-inflammatories will fight inflammation; you'd be better off using ice, but they'll do a job
