Default Is there anyone in Britain wo now thinks that hosting te 2012 Olympics was a bad idea

In the lead up to the Olympics lots of radio talk shows (mostly 5 live and Jeremy Vine on Radio 2) were full of doom and gloom about the impeding disaster that was going to be the games.
Traffic was going to appaling, public transport wasn't going to be able to cope, security was a nightmare, embarrassment of calling in troops, no lasting legacy....yadda yadda yadda.
Anyone still feel the same?

Nope. I'm converted. Hallelujah!

I don't mind admitting that I thought we'd screw it up both on and off the track/field/road/water/velodrome/etc, but it has been bloody excellent thus far and i've no reason to believe that will change.

To be fair, I appreciate some of the reservations people had, especially about the corporate bollocks and missiles and that that came with it.

But the games themselves have been awesome.

I was glad we did one over Paris in 2005, but other than that I was convinced handing us the Olympics was a massive mistake.

Glad I'm wrong. Since the opening ceremony the whole thing has been a resounding success.

Transport has coped so far with no issue. GBR has dominated. The weather hasn't been as bad as it could have been. Everyone else seems to be enjoying it.

Fair f*cks.

The whole thing is a massive waste of money. Despite our success and despite the actual success of the games, this will make the O2 arena look like planning for the future.

Exactly.

Ok, the opening ceremony was terrific, and it was a truly emotional experience to see Mo, Jess and Rutherford secure gold - but they would have won wherever the games had been held.

In a country where increasing numbers of people are sinking into poverty, where increasing numbers of people are losing their jobs and homes, and where elderly people are dying because they can't afford to heat their houses, it is morally repugnant to spend billions on a sporting event.

You're opposed to all forms of leisure activity then?
