Chris Pilgrim out for the remainder of the season
Newcastle Falcons have confirmed that scrum-half Chris Pilgrim will be out for the remainder of the season after tearing his anterior cruciate ligaments in Saturday’s RFU Championship victory at London Scottish.
Pilgrim, 26 has made a good start to the campaign, helping the Falcons to maximum points in their opening two league games.
Director of rugby Dean Richards said: “We are obviously very disappointed as he has had a great start to the season and it is bitterly disappointing for him.”
Pilgrim, who joined the Falcons from Nottingham in the summer of 2009, has set his sights on a swift recovery.
He said: “I was really excited to continue my form into the rest of the campaign and I am really disappointed to be out for the season.
“These things happen in rugby and my aim is to come back stronger and better than before. I will now undergo a six month rehabilitation programme and I will be around the club offer help and support wherever I can.”
The Birkenhead-born No.9 came into this term on the back of representing the Barbarians against Loughborough Students in the summer.
Doncaster Knights are the visitors to Kingston Park this Friday as Dean Richards aims to continue the winning run (kick-off 8pm).
